Easter Weekend in London

Photo walks and photoshoots, stunning views of the city, cold and spring cleaning…

…and a fox in the garden

This was my first, fully off Easter Weekend. In Italy I didn't even have Easter Sunday off, I was working all weekend, every weekend (also Good Friday is not a bank holiday there). When I moved to London it was the exact same shit, only with the added bonus of probably a double shift or two or three in a row…

This year I could finally see what all the fuss of a ‘long weekend’ was about. Yep: it’s cool!

I started with a photo walk with my friend Gary (go check him out, he’s an amazing photographer @gary.likes.photos, garylikesphotos.com). We decided to take new photos of each other, we both needed new ones for our respective websites and socials, plus it’s always a good exercise for portrait photos. Done that around Shoreditch and Brick Lane, we ended up walking first around there, then stopping for lunch at Spitalfields Market, ending up in Farringdon. 8 hours and 20000+ steps, and photos and chitchatting. It was a great start of the weekend.

Moving on to Saturday, I had gotten tickets for The Lookout on 8 Bishopsgate in the City, a viewing platform on the 50th floor, a stone throw from Horizon22. I loved it, so small and with much less people. I booked the last tickets of the day, hoping to catch the sunset and blue hour, but they closed earlier than that, and we ended up staying less than an hour. Worth it though, I’ll defo go again. We sat in a quiet corner and enjoyed the view of the Shard, the Tower Bridge, the Walkie Talkie and the Thames, while trying to figure out what this or that building was. Just chill and fun and lovely. I booked these tickets back in September or October, wanted to surprise my husband as it was his birthday yesterday :) You’ll find the link to book at the end of the post, but keep in mind they release dates every two weeks on a Monday.

On Easter Sunday we attempted a picnic in Hyde Park, but the sun didn’t make a peek AT ALL… it was freezing as hell. We sat on a bench by the Italian Gardens, had our lunch there, and passers-by were so invested into finding out what we were eating…

If you’re sooo curious that you had to stare at us, we had: toasted pita with humous, little gruyere cubes, and frankfurters wrapped in puff pastry, baked with sesame and poppyseeds on top. I am a baker after all. Happy? now stop staring thank you!

Now on to Easter Monday and the exciting Spring Cleaning! With that bit of sunshine we had, we stripped apart our bedroom, dusted it and washed the carpet. So tiring, but rewarding. How all that dust gets trapped in the old carpet in so little time I’ll never know… But I’m happy to report that allergic-to-dust hubby is breathing again 🤦🏻‍♀️ which is a positive… that carpet needs changing….

Moving on! I think I wrote enough for one day, and who wants to hear about this anyway, so I’ll leave you with a carousel of photos I took on my photowalk with Gary.

Till next time, toodles!
